Oxygen shot for Herniated Disc

New Oxygen/Ozone Shot Healing Herniated Disc

A new study was conducted with more than 8,000 patients suffering with back pain. These patients were injected with a shot consisting of ozone and oxygen which relieves the pressure placed on nerves due to herniated discs. This shot reduces the disc volume through ozone oxidation.

Dr. Kieran J. Murphy is an interventional neuroradiologist who conducted the study. Of all the patients given the treatment, they were asked to rate their pain before the procedure on a scale of 1-10 and after receiving the shot. There was at least a 4 point improvement.

This is a much safer solution to those contemplating going under surgery to have the disc fixed which is a very risky procedure.

My mom has suffered with herniated discs for over 10 years and now she has a solution to the pain she has suffered. She never felt comfortable with doing surgery and she didn't enjoy going to the chiropractor, so this is the best solution for her and thousands of people suffering with back pain.

The New York Times released a study that is being conducted to fight the flu and other flu related illnesses. These are some of the key points:

  • The vaccine would not have to be changed yearly

  • Within the next 3 years clinical trials will be done to prove the antibodies are safe in humans

  • Study is being conducted by Researchers at Harvard Medical School, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and The Burnham Institute for Medical Research

  • It could change how the world fights influenza

  • Could protect against the 1918 Spanish flu and HSN1 Bird flu

Amanga Gardner, Healthday reporter, gave the following insight on the new studies conducted regarding strokes.

  • Dr. Jukka Putaala and Central Hospital in Finland evaluated over 1,000 patients between the ages of 15-49

  • Males predominated the study with the majority of the patients having a stroke before the age of 44

  • A second study conducted, revealed that feeling sleepy during the day in older patients increases the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease

  • Silent strokes are most common among younger men in their 40s

  • Men in their 40s with high cholesterol and hypertension are more likely to suffer from a silent stroke with no prior indications

  • Men in their early 40s should get routine check-ups to prevent an early stroke

Do a Body Good...Do a Baby Good

Milk Mystery

We have all been told to drink at least 1 glass of milk every day for the calcium and vitamin D benefits. However, there are so many types of milk out there: Soy, Organic, Skim, low fat, whole and many others. Here is a breakdown of which milk is best for certain needs, as seen on The Doctors television show.

  • Soy Milk

This is best for people who are sensitive to lactose. However, it does act as an added hormone to the body and if taken in excess could affect thyroid health.

  • Whole Milk

Children under 2 should consume whole milk which is essential for brain development. However, it is not recommended for older children and adults because it has added calories.

  • Nonfat Milk

This is the best type of milk. It has all the nutrients without any of the fat.

  • Organic

This is usually more expensive. However, it does contain higher amounts of omega 3 fatty acids, beta carotene. A benefit is also that minimum antibiotics were used to treat the cows.

  • Low fat

This has the same nutrients as whole milk with less calories but a little more calories than nonfat milk.

New President...New Health Care

Obama's Future Plans in Health Care

According to Robert Pear, writer for The New York Times, these are the new goals and plans in health care.

  • Obama's goal is to provide coverage for the uninsured

  • Obama requested more than $6 billion for cancer research at National Institutes of Health

  • Require drug companies to give bigger discounts

  • Cut Medicare payments to hospitals that re-admit large percentage of patients discharged within the last 30 days

  • Obama says he will work out the details later this year about how to get medical coverage for the uninsured

Obama has the right goal in mind to provide some type of coverage for those uninsured. Every day, more and more people become laid off and suffer along with their families by not only losing a paycheck but also medical coverage. Obama will hopefully be able to implement a plan to help all those suffering in this recession.
