According to Robert Pear, writer for The New York Times, these are the new goals and plans in health care.
- Obama's goal is to provide coverage for the uninsured
- Obama requested more than $6 billion for cancer research at National Institutes of Health
- Require drug companies to give bigger discounts
- Cut Medicare payments to hospitals that re-admit large percentage of patients discharged within the last 30 days
- Obama says he will work out the details later this year about how to get medical coverage for the uninsured
Obama has the right goal in mind to provide some type of coverage for those uninsured. Every day, more and more people become laid off and suffer along with their families by not only losing a paycheck but also medical coverage. Obama will hopefully be able to implement a plan to help all those suffering in this recession.
